Lakers Survive Scare, Improve to 6-0 |

PETERBOROUGH, ON - The Peterborough Lakers had to work a little extra magic last night but were still able to keep their perfect record in tact after a 10-9 overtime victory over the Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks last night.
The Lakers were missing key offensive players such as John Grant Jr., John Tavares, and Tracey Kelusky as well as key defensive players such as Scott Self and Kyle Sorensen.
Scott Evans led the way for Peterborough with four goals, Ryan Sharp scored the overtime winning goal, Shawn Evans picked up two goals and singles went to Mike Thomas, Shawn Thomson, and Turner Evans. Angus Goodleaf picked up the win in his debut in a Lakers uniform.
Next action for the Lakers is tomorrow night when they travel to Six Nations for an 8:30 PM ball drop. That game can be seen live right here on www.sportsintheboro.com. |

PETERBOROUGH, ON - The Peterborough Lakers will be hosting a Breast Cancer Awareness Night on Thursday night when they play host to the Brooklin Redmen at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.
The Lakers are expecting many of the women survivors of Breast Cancer to join them at the Memorial Centre. Joan Bates, the President of Peterborough Survivors Abreast Dragon boat will be on hand to do the opening face-off. Volunteers of the Canadian Cancer Society will be at the various entrances to accept donations for the cause.
The Peterborough Lakers coaching staff and players will be sporting pink shoelaces for Breast Cancer Awareness as well. Lastly, fans are encouraged to wear pink to show support for the cause. |

PETERBOROUGH, ON - The Peterborough Lakers have gotten out to the perfect start. With just four games in the books the Lakers sit atop the Major Series Lacrosse standings thanks in part to a big 12-5 victory in Six Nations last night that saw the Lakers record improve to 4-0 on the season.
The Lakers were led offensively by their top five consisting of Shawn Evans, Scott Evans, John Grant Jr., Mark Steenhuis, and John Tavares. Last night marked the first time all five were in the lineup together and they did not disappoint.
Next action for the Lakers is Thursday night when they play host to the Brooklin Redmen, 8:00 PM at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. Thursday is also Breast Cancer Awareness night so fans are encouraged to wear pink to support the cause. |

PETERBOROUGH, ON - The Peterborough Lakers continued their dominance of the Kitchener-Waterloo Kodiaks tonight as they improved to 2-0 on the season with a 10-8 victory. Although it was closer than most fans had hoped, the Lakers were able to step up at the right time and bury the Kodiaks for the second straight game.
The Lakers were led offensively by John Grant Jr. and defensively by Ryan Sharp and Kyle Laverty. Newcomer Mike Thompson played strong in net, coming up clutch at key times.
Next action for the Lakers is Saturday night when they play host to their long time rival, the Brampton Excelsiors, 7:00 PM at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. |

The Peterborough Lakers opened the 2010 season with an 11-5 victory on Tuesday night when they traveled to Kitchener-Waterloo to take on the Kodiaks.
The Lakers were led by offensive outbursts by newcomers John Tavares and Mark Steenhuis as well as returning players Scott Evans, Shawn Evans, and Kyle Clancy.
Notable absences from the Lakers' lineup were John Grant Jr., Cory Vitarelli, Josh Wasson-McQuigge, Josh Gillam, and Nick Cotter. The Lakers will open their home schedule tonight when they play the second of a home-and-home series with the Kodiaks, 8:00 PM at the Memorial Centre.
