PETERBOROUGH, ON - The Peterborough Lakers needed 59 minutes to finally take a two goal lead tonight against the Brampton Excelsiors at the Peterborough Memorial Centre and it was crucial. The Lakers hung on for a 9-8 victory over their long time rivals and now improve to 8-0 on the 2010 season.

After taking the 9-7 lead with just thirty seconds left in the third period, the Excelsiors battled back to draw within one and Mike Thompson stood tall in net with three stops in the final ten seconds to preserve the undefeated season.

The Lakers were led by John Grant Jr. and Josh Wasson-McQuigge who each had two goals. Singles went to Mike Hobbins, Mark Steenhuis, Shawn Evans, and John Tavares.

Next action for the Lakers is tomorrow night when they travel to Ajax-Pickering to take on the Rock. Game time is 8:00PM and can be seen live right here on www.sportsintheboro.com.
