PETERBOROUGH, ON - The Ontario Hockey League announced their top performers for the month of March this week. Among the winners was Petes' rookie forward Matt Puempel who claimed the Rookie of the Month honours for the third straight month.
In just nine games, Matt recorded sixteen points including seven goals and nine assists to go along with his +6 rating. Puempel put a nice close to the month with a six point game against the Oshawa Generals in the maroon and white's last game of the regular season. Matt scored three goals and three assists in that game including his franchise best 33rd goal as a sixteen year old rookie.
Puempel, a native of Essex, ON, was drafted sixth overall by the Petes in the 2009 OHL Priority Selection Draft last May. |
