PETERBOROUGH, ON - After twenty-nine years as a member of the Peterborough Petes organization, seventeen as General Manager, the Jeff Twohey era has come to a close.
The Peterborough Petes Hockey Club announced today that Mr. Twohey's contract will not be renewed. Widely acknowledged around both the Ontario Hockey League and the Canadian Hockey League as a man of integrity with a wealth of hockey knowledge, Jeff Twohey successfully ran one of the most prestigious franchises in all of hockey.
Twohey's time with the Petes (in several capacities) saw the club reach the Memorial Cup Final on four different occasions, the most memorable for local fans being the 1996 tournament which was held in Peterborough.
However, since the Petes last Ontario Hockey League title in 2006 success has eluded the maroon and white. As a result the Executive of the Peterborough Petes Hockey Club has opted to look in a new direction. Additionally, Head Coach Ken McCrae along with Assistants Ryan Barnes and Joe Cirella have been informed that their status with the team will be left up to Twohey's successor, once named.
Sports in the Borough would like to wish Jeff Twohey, Ken McCrae, Ryan Barnes, and Joe Cirella the best of luck in their future endeavours. |
