PETERBOROUGH, ON - The Peterborough Petes dropped their third game in a row tonight at the Peterborough Memorial Centre despite putting up a good effort against the visiting Ottawa 67's. After taking a 1-0 lead and battling back to tie the 67's, the Petes were unable to muster much offense in the third period as they fell 4-3. Matt Puempel got the Petes on the board just over three minutes in as he took a feed from Austin Watson on the power play and beat goaltender Petr Mrazek on a breakaway. The 67's tied the game up early in the third and took a 2-1 lead on the maroon and white, Puempel scored his second of the game on the power play to tie the game up before Jack Walchessen scored a weird goal to give the Petes the lead. Ottawa tied the game before the period was out and went in to the break tied 3-3. The barber poles scored the only goal of the third period despite chances by both teams as they skated to a 4-3 victory in front of 2,493 fans at theĀ Memorial Centre. The two teams are right back at it tomorrow night from Ottawa as they finish off a home-and-home series at 7:30 PM. |
