PETERBOROUGH, ON - The critics weren't giving the Peterborough Petes much credit this weekend and it only seem to fire the maroon and white up. Heading to Saginaw to start the annual trip west riding a ten game losing streak, the Petes looked to be heading to the bottom of the Ontario Hockey League quickly. Two out of three wins later, the Petes look to be turning their season around.

After clawing their way back twice in the third period at the Dow Event Centre in Saginaw, the mighty maroon and white capitalized on a power play in overtime for the 4-3 win that snapped the drought. Scoring for the Petes were Austin Watson, Justin Larson, Slater Koekoek, and Alan Quine. Andrew D'Agostini was stellar in net as he made several highlight reel saves to keep the Petes within striking distance.

Carrying momentum to the Compuware Arena in Plymouth the Petes were unstoppable. Quine netted the hat trick and Joey West notched the other goal as the Petes took a 4-1 decision for a sweep of Michigan.

Looking to have run out of steam on the successful weekend, the Petes fell victim to a third period onslaught in Windsor today as they fell 7-2 after holding a 2-0 lead midway through the second period. Quine had his fifth goal of the weekend and Watson his second for the Petes.

In all the weekend goes down as a success, something new for the fans in Peterborough. Could this be the turning point in a young season?

The Petes will look to continue their success on Thursday night when they return after a five game road trip to play host to the Belleville Bulls, 7:00 PM at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.
