PETERBOROUGH, ON - This is not the start the Peterborough Petes were looking for. With Ryan Spooner back in the lineup after missing eight weeks with a broken collarbone, the maroon and white were not able to generate much offense as they fell behind 2-0 in their Eastern Conference Quarter Final match-up with the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors.

After surviving an early push by the visiting Majors, grinder Jamie Wise got the Petes on the board when he stripped Chris Carrozzi of the puck behind the net and slid it home for the 1-0 lead. However, the Petes were unable to hold that lead heading to the first intermission as the Majors replied for the 1-1 tie after the first period.

Both teams had quality scoring chances through the second period but it was the Majors who took the 2-1 lead on a power play goal with just five seconds remaining after what fans deemed a questionable penalty call.

The maroon and white were unable to capitalize on their chances in the third period including an extended 5-on-3 power play to drop a 2-1 decision.

Game three is tonight in Mississauga at 7:00 PM from the Hershey Centre. That game can be heard live on 100.5 KRUZ FM.
