PETERBOROUGH, ON - The Peterborough Petes got off to a nice start last night at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga but were unable to hang on for the win as they dropped game one of their Eastern Conference Quarter-Final 4-2.
Trailing 1-0 after the first period, rookie Matt Puempel wrapped around a Mississauga turnover for the tying goal which put the two teams to the dressing room 1-1 after forty minutes of play.
Austin Watson would continue his scoring streak as he broke down the wing and put a wrist shot past Chris Carozzi for the 2-1 lead early in the third period. However, the Majors would tie the game on a penalty shot just seconds later and would eventually score the go ahead goal before adding an empty-net tally for the 4-2 final.
Game two in the series goes Monday night, 7:00 PM at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. Petes fans are encouraged to wear white as there will be a "White Out" in affect. |
