PETERBOROUGH, ON - The Peterborough Lakers have thrown the first punch in their Major Series Lacrosse League final as they downed the visiting Brampton Excelsiors 12-8 in front of a raucous crowd at the Peterborough Memorial Centre tonight. The Lakers drew first blood and put the petal to the metal in the first period as Shawn and Scott Evans each netted a pair for a 4-0 lead. The blue, white, and red held the lead from the very start as they hung on and killed the remaining two minutes on the power play for the victory. Game two of the series is tomorrow night at 8:00 PM at the Brampton Powerade Centre. The game can be heard and seen live right here on www.sportsintheboro.com. |
