PETERBOROUGH, ON - Greg Walsh, coach of the Napa Auto Parts Minor Midget hockey team, has been re-instated just days after receiving a season long suspension for pulling his team of the ice after a racial slur was uttered to one of his players during action at the Kinsmen Arena.

Walsh was supported by iconic hockey figures such as Don Cherry who spoke about the suspension on Saturday during Coach's Corner on CBC.

The suspension is lifted effective immediately and Walsh will be able to be behind the bench at his teams' next game.

PETERBOROUGH, ON - It took the Peterborough Petes over 40 minutes of play to solve Ottawa 67's goaltender Petr Mrazek, and just 1:44 seconds to tie and win the game as the maroon and white stormed back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat the 67's 3-2 in overtime.

The 67's got on the board first when Tyler Toffoli notched his 28th of the season for the 1-0 lead. The barber poles weren't finished there as Shane Prince scored his 17th of the season on the power play before the end of the first period for the 2-0 lead after twenty minutes.

After a scoreless second period and half of the third period, Matt Puempel got the Petes on the board when his shot beat Mrazek to close the gap to just one goal. After the 67's missed two great chances with the empty net to seal the deal, Alan Quine found the loose puck in front of the Ottawa net and put it past Mrazek to tie the game with just 20 seconds remaining and force overtime.

The Petes finished it off just 1:24 in to the extra frame when Puempel found a streaking Austin Watson who buried the pass past Mrazek for the overtime victory.

The Petes and 67's are right back at it tomorrow night when the two teams play the second half of the home-and-home series, 7:00 PM at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.

PETERBOROUGH, ON - The Peterborough Petes got the weekend off on the right foot tonight with a 4-2 win over the Brampton Battalion in front of over 2,600 fans at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.

The Troops struck first under two minutes in to the first period when Sam Carrick stepped out from behind the net and put a wrist shot over the shoulder of Bryce O'Hagan for the 1-0 lead. The maroon and white would respond near the end of the period when Matt Puempel found the puck off a deflection and beat Cody St. Jacques to tie the game heading to the dressing room.

Puempel notched his second of the night on the power play after a give-and-go with Austin Watson for the 2-1 lead after forty minutes.

After the Troops scored another quick goal early in the third period, Alan Quine responded less than a minute later capitalizing on a Justin Larson pass in front of the net for the eventual game winning goal. Joey West added a goal in to the empty net to seal the deal for the Petes.

The Petes are right back at it tomorrow night when they travel to Ottawa to take on the 67's in the first of a home-and-home series. The puck drops at 7:30 PM.

PETERBOROUGH, ON - The Peterborough Petes have a busy weekend ahead of them before they enter the Christmas Break of what has been a season that has not met the expectations of many.

Sitting in ninth place in the Eastern Conference, the maroon and white have a tough weekend in which they will battle the Brampton Battalion tomorrow night before a home-and-home series with the Ottawa 67's on Friday and Saturday night. The team received some good news this week as the Switzerland Junior team has granted forward Lino Martschini permission to play in tomorrow night's game against the Battalion but request he sit out the rest of the weekend. The Petes have also called up Rickey Buehler to play tomorrow night against the Battalion in order to have eighteen skaters in the lineup.

With just eight wins in their first thirty games, the Petes will look to hit double digits in wins heading in to the Christmas Break beginning tomorrow night, 7:00 PM at the Peterborough Memorial Centre.
